| Show Info | Theatre By The Bay NY, a Queens theatre group, proudly presents “GYPSY”, one of America’s greatest musicals, with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Arthur Laurents. The book, loosely based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, focuses on her mother Rose, the ultimate stage mother, and her dreams and efforts to raise her two daughters to perform onstage and casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life. “Gypsy” is presented by special arrangement with Tams-Witmark, A Concord Theatricals Company. |

Songs to Know - Mezzo | Young Louise | F | 11-12 | She is Madam Rose's brow-beaten oldest daughter, and has always played second fiddle to her baby sister. She is shy, awkward, a little sad and subdued; she doesn't have the confidence of her sister. Strong acting skills needed. The character always dances slightly out of step but the actress playing this part must be able to dance. Songs to Know - Mezzo | Herbie | M | 55-60 | Agent for Rose's kids as well as her Boyfriend
Heart of gold, but powerful in defending those he loves. Strong acting role. Songs to Know - Baritone | Dainty June | F | 16-24 | Baby June as a young teenager. The ability to do the splits and twirl a baton a big plus, but not a requirement. Must dance very well, taps, strong Broadway teen singer, close harmony skills preferred. Songs to Know - Strong Mezzo belt | Louise/Gypsy Rose Lee | F | 20-28 | Baby Louise as a teenager, who grows up to be Gypsy Rose Lee. Should be able to move well. Minimal l dance skills required. However, must have strong movement and acting skills. Must be able to portray both the awkward teen and a sophisticated woman. | Tessie Tura | F | 40+ | Big Broadway voice, strong movement/dance, ballet training helpful. Comic timing a must.
