Herricks Community Players

History of the company:
Herricks Community Players began as a small group in 1976. The group consisted of residents of the immediate surrounding community. It was started by the Herricks PTA council. The council put out a request for a director, and John & Carol Hayes’ daughter told her teacher that her father was a director. John went for an interview and was selected as the director. He has been directing at Herricks since it’s inception, with Carol as one of the producers.

Productions:
There have been 48 Musical Productions and 16 Comedy/Drama Productions for a total of 64 Productions at Herricks Community Center.

Performance Space:
We are very lucky to have a beautiful auditorium with over 500 seats. The stage space is wonderfully large, with great wing and storage available.

Favorite Productions:
Although there have been numerous fabulous productions, our favorite to date was The Producers. The production was a challenge and the comedic material showcased Mel Brooks at his best. We were fortunate to work with an extremely talented cast.

Bizarre Incident:
After the final performance of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, the leading man came on stage to thank everyone and he wanted to particularly thank the scenic designer. After calling her on stage, he proceeded to get down on one knee and propose to her. she happily accepted and they have been married for over 20 years.

Plans for Future:
We are currently working on the comedy Rumors by Neil Simon, and hope for the group to continue with more musicals and/or comedy and dramas.

Anything Else You Want to Share:
John and Carol Hayes are happy to be back for one last shot. Jon directing Rumors, and Carol Co-producing. They look forward to the continued growth of the Herricks Community Players with the wonderful support from the Herricks Community Fund.
