Technical Director
Hire and oversee the technical production staff and make sure all areas are working properly. Be skilled to fill one or more of those positions if needed. Plan for the building of the set, in consultation with the director and set builder, with knowledge of the spatial requirements of the theatre, and staying with the constraints of the budget for set as determined by the producers, as well as maintaining the safety of the set and the actors who will be on it; work with the set builder to purchase the materials needed to create the set; utilize synagogue volunteers to build the set; insure that all building and associated painting and/or design components are completed in sufficient time to “load in” at the theatre in time for tech week (the week prior to the first performance). Coordinate and lead the “load in” before tech week (which may include renting a UHAUL), and with load out at the end of the run of the show. Be present at all tech week rehearsals to insure set is working properly in theatre space and to provide input as to how the set is to be moved throughout the show. Be present for all performances. Work in concert with the director throughout the entire process of preparing the technical aspects of the show, to insure that the designs will reflect the director’s vision for the show.

Scenic Designer
In consultation with the director of the show, with knowledge of the spatial requirements of the theatre at which the show will be performed, and staying with the constraints of the budget for set design as determined by the producers, provide plans/drawings/renderings of set concepts to the director and producers for approval. Appropriate measurements should accompany all drawings.

Set Builder
Work in conjunction with the tech director to purchase the materials needed to create the set; train and oversee volunteers to build the set; insure that all building and associated painting and/or design components are completed in sufficient time to “load in” at the theatre in time for tech week (the week prior to the first performance). Communicate with and work in concert with the director throughout the entire process of designing and building the set to insure that the designs will reflect the director’s vision for the show.

Lighting Designer
Design the light cues and use of gobos if necessary. Participate in the cue to cue during tech week to finalize the cues. Train our light board operator during tech week and turn it over to them. Communicate with and work in concert with the director throughout the entire process of designing the lights to insure that the designs will reflect the director’s vision for the show.

Sound Designer and Operator
Rent the appropriate number of body mics and set up actors with their equipment during tech week and performances. Run sound check and the soundboard during tech and the run of the show. Design the sound and accompanying sound cues and microphone cues prior to tech week. Communicate with and work in concert with the director throughout the entire process of preparing the sound design, to insure that the designs will reflect the director’s vision for the show.

Celebrate St. James is looking  for a scenic artist to complete our sets for a town show we are producing in St. James N.Y. in Suffolk County.

Our Show is scheduled for the beginning of October we do not require alot of scenery but need to get it finished quickly.  One of the sets is a tableau of a William Sydney Mount painting that requires skill to reproduce effectively. The others are less demanding the largest of which is a train.
