Roles
Role | M/F | Age | Description | Philip, the French King | M | 17 | Philip is 17 and has been king since he was 14. He has been forced to grow up quickly in the shadow of his rival, Henry II of England. He has come to demand that his sister, Alais, marry Henry's eldest son, Richard, as long ago agreed to. Philip is young but has already become a strong monarch, although no match for Henry. Not initially as accomplished in manipulating people as Henry, he acquires greater skills at this during the play. He is impressive and handsome without being pretty. He has a dark past with Richard which he intends to reveal to get even with Henry. |
