An actor with the Mineola Mask & Wig Club, she is cast as Blanche in its production of "A Streetcar Named Desire." | Helene | F | 20-40 | Attractive newcomer in town who plays Stella in the local production of Streetcar. As the play goes on, she falls in love with Harry as Stanley. | Harry | M | 20-40 | Harry works at Verne Miller's Hardware Emporium, an actor, very shy and struggles to connect with others, acting brings him to life and transforms him into a different person. Harry is convinced by Tom to star as Stanley in "A Streetcar Named Desire." | Catherine/Paula | F | 20-30 | Catherine is a newly married woman who receives an unexpected visit from her friend Newt, a soldier. Catherine has a very sharp wit and a youthful, positive energy. Paula is Tom's daughter. | Newt/Joey/John | M | 20-30 | Joey is the stage manager for all productions at the Mineola Mask & Wig Club, works well with Tom and Doris, lots of energy, moves fast. Newt is a young Army soldier who has gone AWOL, who is "awkward, smart and ironic", and deeply in love with Catharine. John is George’s son from a previous marriage, and stepson to Gloria. He is very upset his father married Gloria. He is focused, direct, and although he’s young, looks like “a college professor. | Verne/George Murra | M | 25-55 | Verne is the owner of Verne Miller's Hardware Emporium in Mineola, good friends with Tom, a down to earth dude, enthusiastic with an over the top funny personality. George is a frustrated writer (think playwright Arthur Miller). George has a passionate and sometimes volatile relationship with his actress wife Gloria, and also with his son John from a previous marriage. | Doris/Gloria | F | 25-55 | Doris is the long-time theater director at the Mineola Mask & Wig Club, a natural leader, very funny, big personality, lots of hilarious one-liners. Gloria is a famous movie star who moved into town (think Marilyn Monroe with a tougher edge). The stress of Gloria's successful career has made her high-strung and intense. She is married to George. |
